I've have been so excited about posting my artistic impression of this photograph since Eugene shared it with me. He was traveling in Xian, China and got separated from the tour group and went into a back room of a terra cotta factory where a man was finishing a piece of furniture. During this time of year kids were out of school for the summer so she wasn't actually doing her homework but rather the studies were given to her by her parents to try and get an edge up and be ahead when school reconvened. As he told me, apparently only 71% of high school grads go on to higher education and it takes two incomes to send your child on. The lighting in this image immediately struck me as it gently lit the young girl's hair. I could invision this as a great piece of art. I hope you agree.
