This is my final in this series of three siblings' sports paintings. Sofia is 7 yrs old, the character of the family and is a big ham when it comes to getting her photos taken! Each one of these kids really make it a joy to photograph. Sofia was searching the camera out on this day to try and find me because she had seen what had turned out from her brother and sister's shoots. She was anxious to get her own and I'm so glad. Although I have to say these vibrant bright/yellow green jerseys fits the team name (Fireflies) and was a challenge to shoot and paint. I had to take several "eye" breaks from painting! It was so cool to capture this image as she was bumping the ball off her knee. She looks real pro, doesn't she? The background was too busy and was too much of a distractiion so I decided to simplify it to focus totally on her. I've had alot of fun painting these and have enjoyed going to the games to watch the kids play. Thanks Gianna, Guy and Sofia. I hope you enjoy your new posters for your room! This is the second in my series of sports paintings that I will print into 20x30 posters for each one of the siblings. This photo painting is of Guy, Gianna's older brother playing flag football. He is an awesome runner and can really make some moves on the field! I took the original photo his recent flag football game, and yes, his team WON! I really liked painting this one and adding a sense of speed to the colorful background and to his clothing with some interesting brush strokes, then I used a filter after I painted it to give it more depth, color and contrast so it would add to the sports action. He and his sisters Gianna and Sophia are the happiest, well raised kids I have known. They are always smiling and always polite and full of childhood laughter. I'm proud to call their parents, Ed and Julie, my friends. Ralph and I appreciate sharing the fun of capturing your children as they grow up. Remember as always I love getting comments so don't "PASS" up this opportunity to leave one now. Thanks!

"I hope all you young girls see yourself up there,...We were just like you" - Mia Hamm
These 5 yr old girls are in it to win it! I have been fortunate enough to be able to photograph this young girl Gianna since she was an infant. Time really does fly. It's amazing to watch this ordinarily shy girl turn into a real competitive go-getter on the soccer field. She has her "own style" as you can see in the positioning of her left hand, she has her own "Michael Jordan" move. It must work, becuase she has scored goals for her team! I love this photo becuase it really highlights all of those characteristics and of course that beautiful, long blond mane of hair flowing in the wind! I wanted to minimize the distractions from the original photo so i cropped the other players out for this particular painting. Later I will do more of a team action painting.  I then hand painted the entire image and boosted the color.  I set this up for printing to a 20x30 poster for her room and added her name using Adobe CS4. Her brother and sister are the next two in my series of sports paintings. Reminder: I get a "kick" seeing your comments. Just click comments below and choose name/url and type in your name.
